FTBI had organised a Workshop on “Fostering Conducive Ecosystem for Innovators” on 27th February, 2019 at Conference Room, FTBI. The workshop had the below 5 themes for deliberation: 

1. Inclusive development
2. Unleashing potential of Indian Agriculture - Increasing wealth creation and employment
3. Healthcare and Nutrition
4. Scaling up and commercialization of innovations
5. Waste to Wealth

and had comprised 5 sessions of one-hour duration each. The Subject Experts from different departments of NIT Rourkela were invited for the session.

FTBI evaluated the Idea Proposals for Incubatee Induction on 30th January 2019 at Conference Room, FTBI.

Twelve individual participating teams presented their ideas in front of the respected Professor Committee Members of NITR. The respected Professor Committee evaluated the presentations thoroughly, discussed from each and every participant team and shared their valuable feed backs and review remarks. The selected teams were allowed for pre-incubation at FTBI and funding support. Expectations during the pre-incubation is

• to develop the ideas into concrete business plans and

• to work in parallel on developing the prototypes 

• to build a core team utilizing the ecosystem of the pre- incubation 

• company registration of the proposed startup.

FTBI  had a great privilege to welcome Dr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group  and Dr. Santrupt B Misra , Chairperson (BOG) during their visit to grace the  16th Annual Convocation of NIT Rourkela on  19th January 2019 (Saturday).  They were  accompanied by Dr. Animesh Biswas (Director NITR), other renowned alumni of NITR and respected Deans and HODs. The Honorable Guests had a brief interaction with the members from startup companies and teams under pre-incubation of FTBI.

They also visited the office of Phoenix Robotix Pvt. Ltd. and interacted with Ms. Akanshya Priyadarshini, Co-founder  of Phoenix Robotix. Pvt. Ltd.

Distinguished alumni of NITR Padma Shri Nalini Ranjan Mohanty, ex-chairman Hindustan Aeronautics Limited; Prof. Damodar Acharya, ex-director of IIT Kharagpur; Dr. Om Agrawal, Senior Fellow, Advanced Micro-devices, USA, and a team of few other renowned alumni visited FTBI on  05th January 2019.  The team was accompanied by Dr. Animesh Biswas (Director, NITR), respected Deans, HODs and Professors of NITR. The Honorable Guests visited the Incubation Centre, manufacturing spaces and preincubation space of FTBI and interacted with the founders and co founder members from startup companies and teams under pre-incubation of FTBI.

The team also visited the offices of Phoenix Robotix Pvt. Ltd., Awalk Innovations and Fastech Fashions.

Innovation Carnival 2018 for was organized by FTBI on 10th and 11th November, 2018 in TIIR Building, NIT Rourkela. Innovators, Eminent Personalities, Start-ups, Students from School and Technical Institutes, Research Scholars, Representatives from supporting agencies, Industries, Quality Circles etc. from various parts of country attended the event.

The bespoke event comprised of Innovative Exhibition Challenge for Industrial innovations as well as for school level innovations, Startup Hunt, Inspirational Talks with Experts and Professionals , Panel discussions and Workshops by Startup India, opportunities for idea pitching and business development, mentoring & networking, social innovation exhibition, food innovation events, fun events and cultural nights etc.

The participants were given the opportunity to showcase their game-changing innovations and creative solutions that impact lives, businesses and the society.  They also got to interact with the few of the best minds in the industry and understand how they can apply emerging technologies to improve the way the world works and lives.

The inaugural ceremony at TIIR auditorium witnessed Shri Jual Oram, Honourable Minister of Tribal Affairs as the Chief Guest. Smt. Rashmita Panda, CEO Smart-City, Rourkela and Shri Bibhu Mohapatra, New-York based fashion designer and costume designer graced the Carnival as the Guest of Honour . Other dignitaries involved Prof. Animesh Biswas, Director NIT Rourkela and Prof. K.K. Mohapatra, Dean Academics, NIT Rourkela along with Prof. Rajeev Panda, Convenor, Innovation Carnival.

International Innovation Fair (IIIF 2018) is organised by Indian Innovators Association (IIA) in partnership with AP Innovation Society and supported by Government of Andhra Pradesh. The event is planned to be organized in Visakhapatnam, from September 8 to 10 under IFIA‘s patronage. Hence, all of you are invited for the participation in IIIF 2018.  AP Govt as the host, offers free registration, free exhibition space and free accommodation.

Foundation for Technology and Business Incubation (FTBI) invited Chartered Accountant Mr. Sailesh Agarwal for conducting Workshop on the topic “Legal Intricacies in Starting Entrepreneurial Ventures” with the incubatees, pre-incubatees, and students of NIT Rourkela as the participants on 11th September, 2018 at 3:30 PM in the Seminar Hall of FTBI (TIIR Building). The topics of discussion in the workshop was:

• Incorporation of a Company under Companies Act, 2013.

• Statutory requirements for company incorporation.

• Types of companies.

• Reference documents of company like MOA and AOA.

• Compliance's required post incorporation.

• One time and recurring expenses involved in company formation.

• Writing up of accounts and the preparation of financial statements.

• Miscellaneous topics of interest to the audience.

In the memory of His Excellency late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who championed the cause of technological innovations in rural development, the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), is organizing RISC-2018 with the aim to better rural life with the aid of technology and innovations. 

Rural Innovators Start-up Conclave (RISC) will provide a platform to a wide array of innovators and entrepreneurs to showcase their products, pitch and talk about their innovations and get an opportunity to partner with funding and network support. RISC- 2018 will bring together the most forward-thinking innovators,incubators, entrepreneurs and technology players to unlock new potentials in seven identified sectors-

• GREEN ENERGY

• AGRICULTURE & ALLIED ACTIVITIES

A meeting  of FTBI with Director, all deans, NITR and PIC, FTBI  was held regarding its present status and future endeavors in the Board Room,Meeting for Present Status and Future Endeavours of FTBI NITR at 11.00 am on 31.05.2018 (Thursday). Director, NITR presided over the meeting.

Alumni of NITR Commodore Dr J Jena will be visiting the NITR campus on 14th March along with Sri Arun Mohanty and Rohit Arjaria with a comprehensive plan on stimulating incubation and entrepreneurship at NIT Rourkela. The program will evolve with multiple deliberations of various stake holders in the alumni and community. 
Agenda will involve meeting of the delegates with the Director, NIT Rourkela and proceeding to showcasing of the activities and progress of the TIIR and FTBI and interaction with Incubatees of FTBI.

As a next step to the evaluation of proposals and ideas on 16th February 2018, Friday at Conference Room. The teams have been approved  for the next stage:  Pre - Incubation at FTBI which will give them an access to the Ideation room  of FTBI. ​

Few of the very good ideas based on the creation of highly intensive product prototypes have been given the space access to the Maker's lab of FTBI. The teams will have to appear in front of the Steering Committee, FTBI for approval of the requested seed money for prototype creation. It is also advised to the participants to incorporate a company in their name.

Expectations during the pre-incubation is

• to develop the ideas into concrete business plans and

• to work in parallel on developing the prototypes 

• to build a team utilizing the ecosystem of the pre- incubation. 

Five Finalists from Startup India - Odisha Yatra Boot camp  have been invited for Grand Finale at KIIT TBI, Bhubhanaehswar.

Schedule is as follows:

March 14-15,2018: Two days accelerator program

Agenda: Session on Entrepreneurship,social entrepreneurship, business plan preparation, identifying the co-founders,IoT  and digital marketing, preparation for

registration of limited company/LLP by the startup etc. To be chalked out by a Committee consisting of Team from IED,  KIIT, TBI and Invest India.

March 16,2018: Grand Finale 

Agenda: Idea Pitching Session. Expectation is to select 100 ideas for further incubation.

March 17,2018: Award Ceremony 

Agenda: Result conclusions of the Startup India - Odisha Yatra in auditorium of KIIT, TBI.

Twelve individual participating teams (4 revised and 8 fresh ) presented their ideas in front of the respected Professor Committee Members of NITR.The respected Professor Committee evaluated the presentations thoroughly, discussed from each and every participant team and shared their valuable feed backs and review remarks.

 Startup Odisha has taken a move under the Startup India initiative to provide the blooming entrepreneurs a platform to realize their startup dreams, with the dawn of the Startup India Odisha Yatra. It will continue for a stretch of 25 days in Odisha with the conduct of boot camps at 10 destinations. The boot camp  was hosted by  NIT Rourkela  on February 7, 2018 at TIIR Auditorium. An idea-pitch session was carried out subsequently where the ideas presented were screened by panelists form Startup India, Startup Odisha and NIT Rourkela.

Out of the 37 participating teams 5 Finalists teams were selected made it to the Grand Finale which is scheduled to be hosted at Bhubaneswar post a 3-day Accelerator Program.
